Job Growth in US Defense Industry – Stealth Technology and Electronic Warfare

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

In a challenging economy, there are few areas of job growth and stability. Most industrial fields are facing unprecedented layoffs and cutbacks in service. Over the past decade there has traditionally been some stability in the defense industry. However, as many corporations in the defense industry also have a large exposure to the civilian aerospace industry there have been cuts there as well.

One area that has seen marked stability and even growth is the area of electronic warfare. Military equipment is increasingly relying upon electronic warfare for advantages over adversaries. One of the main areas in the field of Electronic Warfare (EW) is Electronic Protection.

Electronic Protection

Probably the most well known branch of EW, electronic protection includes active and passive systems. Passive systems include stealth technology. Stealth technology is most well known on airplanes such as the stealth fighter (F117-Nighthawk) or the stealth bomber (B2-Spirit). The development of a stealth platform requires multiple approaches. For each these approaches individuals with varied expertise and skills are required.

Radar absorbing materials are designed to envelope the aircraft. These materials must have characteristics that allow them to absorb radar waves while at the same time offering structural integrity capable of meeting the high environmental demands of a military aircraft. Physicists, chemists, and mechanical engineers often play a substantial role in developing these materials.

The shape of the aircraft is an important aspect of stealth technology. The shape of the aircraft is developed to minimize the reflection of radar waves but must of course still allow for stable flight and evasive action. In this branch of development of stealth, structural engineers and those with experience in aeronautics and aerodynamics are required.

Another area of stealth technology is in thermodynamics. Since many missile systems rely wholly or at least partially upon heat sensing, a stealth aircraft needs to minimize its heat signature as well as its radar signature. Elaborate structural changes to an aircraft funnel and dissipate heat in ways that conventional aircraft do not. Engineers with experience and knowledge in thermodynamics and heat transfer are sought after for this field.

Finding Out If Your Husband is Cheating by Using Technology, Electronics, and Gadgets

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

I sometimes get emails from wives who are trying to find out if their husband is cheating. Some are hoping to catch him in the act and others just want to know for their own peace of mind. Many have already asked their husbands about their suspicions and have been told that they are imagining things or have been met by a husband who is angry at being “wrongly accused.”

Whatever situation your are in, you can often find out if your husband is cheating by checking the technology that he is probably using to carry out the cheating. Or, you can make use of the many gadgets available to record his activities. In other words, you’re going to follow his electronic trail. I feel that theses methods are far superior to following your husband or confronting him, as I rarely see these two scenarios work out very well. At least when you are checking his electronics, you don’t run the risk of a physical confrontation, and, if you’re wrong, you can avoid being caught and eroding the marriage.

Gadgets That Can Help You Catch Your Cheating Husband: You don’t always have to hire a private investigator to help you figure out where your husband is going. And you can avoid following him by using gadgets. They have GPS magnets that you can stick on the bottom of his car. They have little pens that you can put in his car, office, or bedroom to record audio. They have tiny cameras that you can put in TV cabinets, in chest of drawers, or in (more…)

Electronic and Equipment Repairs

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

A human machine interface, often abbreviated to HMI is a function that allows an interaction amongst human beings and machines. Some human machine interfaces differ widely, some examples are screen and input buttons on a mobile phone to nuclear power plants. Creating these may be a challenge, and often needs a considerable amount of hard work to ensure the interface is fully working, easy to access, nice to work and use, and sensible. A number of engineers sometimes specialise in the development of HMI systems and altering the methods in how individuals work with systems and machines.

A couple of elements are required in a human machine interface. One of which is an input. A human user has to (more…)

Consumer Electronics Show Reveals Top Electronics And Technologies For 2011

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Last week saw the biggest technology show occur in the heart of the stunning U.S city Las Vegas, the Consumer Electronics show. The biggest names in the technology industry arrived with an array of innovative new technologies, which are to revolutionize 2011! So what was on offer from the top electronic companies and even a pop star?!

At the annual CES (consumer electronics show) for 2011, we saw a great number of dynamic and innovative products – some that will be a raving a success, some not so much! To revolutionize gaming, the company Turtle Beach has come up with a wireless headset (the PX5) with surround sound, which works with the Xbox 260 and the PS3. The PX5 can be used to not only gain surround sound experience with a headset; it can be used for chat on the PS3, as a wireless headset for mobile communication and AD2P playback. This trendy gamers’ accessory also has personal customization settings, which allow you to change the level of sound, say of the music or voices in a particular game. This setting can be preset, enabling you to choose in each of your games sound levels for each sound sample. A great gadget which could easily be a success on the current gaming market.

Samsung also exhibited their new bendy mobile phone screen, a technology still in progress. The screen with Amoled technology can bend into an arc, withstanding up to an amazing 450 degrees in manufacturing! Samsung have already released a prior bendy model, yet, it was not as thin as 2011′s prototype, nor did it have the same quality resolution. At 0.3mm thick and with high quality resolution, Samsung’s model could open up a new future for smart phone and screen technology. We give this one a thumb’s up for 2011!

If energy efficiency is your concern, the General Electric’s digital energy saving range is for you. Including a smart meter, a nucleus – the hub for all connected electronics and a new affordable to the average ‘Joe’ energy saving screen, the company has a lot to offer for 2011. The 2011 saving screen from GE aims to be more accurate than ever before as it tells the consumer when peak and off peak times occur, enabling them to choose the best time for them economically to use household products. Although there is already a range of energy readers on the market, not all are as ‘smart’ as this one, nor come at such a good price for the latest technology.

The 2011 Consumer Electronics show, also the debut of several products soon ready to go into production, including the portable Nintendo 3D, part of the 3D revolution that has the world in the last year; and photographic sunglasses by the House of Gaga and Polaroid. The portable Nintendo 3D is bound to be a success as gaming has taken off in the last few years, whilst the futuristic Gaga glasses which can take and display photos may be a fashion novelty for 2011.

The 2011 CES was a great success as all the exhibitions produced innovative and dynamic consumer electronics all of which are apt for the current market and will revolutionize technology in coming years.

Latest Technology

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

In an age of computers, gadgets, gizmos, cell phones, and electronics everyone wants to be the first to produce, own, or buy the latest technology. Just like athletes competing to be bigger, faster, and stronger we want our gadgets to have bigger storage capacity, run faster, and be strong enough to handle all of our technology needs.

For many people, having the latest technology is no problem. The newest cell phone came out; many will go out and buy it. A larger, thinner TV with a clearer picture just hit the shelves, get rid of the old TV for the bigger, better, newer version. However, technology changes so quickly that the average person is not able to always have the latest gadget or electronic the minute it’s available. One advantage to the ever changing face of technology, on the other hand, is that the older versions of certain gadgets and electronics become more affordable and accessible as newer versions are created.

So just what are the latest technology fads and newest gadgets that people just must have? It seems that most people are looking for the gadget that will make life easier. They want one gadget that will do more than one task so they can work on their multi-tasking skills as well. People want to be entertained, keep up with news, and write their grocery list all with the same electronic gadget. Another aspect people look for in the latest technology is the largest amount of memory or storage possible in the smallest, most portable container possible.

Take for example, the new iPhone and iPod from Apple, the latest technology in cell phones. At the very least, it is of course an electronic gadget that makes phone calls. But it also acts as an electronic photo album, PDA, computer, game system, camera, video camera, and any other tool or gizmo you can think of all rolled into one small, sleek looking gadget that everyone wants to have. The must-have iPhone allows the lucky owner to basically take care of all of their daily appointments, calls, and tasks from one location. Although its appearance may have gotten smaller, the latest technology in cell phones has definitely gotten bigger, faster, and stronger.
